Future Considerations Announced

MUSKEGON, MI —  The Muskegon Lumberjacks made four trades during the 2022-23 season that included future considerations in the return packages for Muskegon. Following the USHL Draft the league announced the four players received by the Lumberjacks. All four have been added to the Jacks protected list.

 

Hunter Anderson - Des Moines
The first player listed for the Lumberjacks came to Muskegon as a part of a trade with the Des Moines Buccaneers. Anderson is a native of Manhattan Beach, California who has spent the last three years in Minnesota at Shattuck St. Mary's School. This past season in 54 18U Prep games Anderson recorded a 59-56-115 stat line on the front end for the Sabres. A 2005 birth year Anderson is NHL Draft eligible this summer, and is ranked #111 among North American skaters. Anderson is committed to play his college hockey at Denver University, an NCHC powerhouse
 

Cooper Pierson - Lincoln
Another SSM player and U. Denver commit Cooper Pierson made his way to Muskegon by way of the Lincoln Stars. Pierson shared the offensive duties at Shattuck with Anderson collecting 43 points in 33 games through his fourth season as a Sabre. The Zionsville, Illinois native is a 2005 birth year, right hand shot.
 

Jake Merens - Fargo
A native of Highland Park, Illinois, Merens was traded to Muskegon from the Fargo Force. Playing Youth Hockey in his home state Merens was a member of the Chicago Mission 16U AAA team where he produced at just over a point per game rate with 16 in 15 games played. In 4 playoff games with the Mission Merens recorded 6 points on 3 goals, and 3 assists.
 

Ryan Koering - Tri City
The final future consideration Ryan Koering came to Muskegon from the Tri-City Storm. A tall 6'3 defenseman from Eden Prairie, Minnesota Koering was the captain of his high school team, totaling 16 points in 27 games this season. Ranked #157 among North American skaters Koering is committed to play his college hockey in the NCHC at Colorado College.
