"Especially with my brother being there and winning a Clark Cup, I hope I can bring some of that success back to Muskegon." Said Toll. When asked about what he knows about the Lumberjacks, he added, "One word: just 'success'."
A future St. Thomas Tommy in the NCHC, Josh is the younger brother of former Lumberjacks defenseman and 2025 Clark Cup Champion, Jake Toll. While Jake spent the 2025-26 season at the University of Minnesota Duluth, Josh was in the WHL with the Wenatchee Wild.
"Josh fills a couple of holes that we have. He's a great puck-moving defenseman; his breakouts keep the offense moving, and he's really great on the transition." Lumberjacks Head Coach
Colten St. Clair said. "With his brother (Jake) being a Clark Cup Champion with the Jacks, Josh is familiar with the organization, so we are really excited to get him here and started." St. Clair finished.
In 67 WHL games, Toll recorded 4 goals and 50 assists for 54 points, leading the Wild by a large margin while anchoring the blue line.
"Josh's resume speaks for itself. This is a massive addition to our defense core, and we are excited to get Josh into a Lumberjacks jersey. The Toll family are remarkable people, and we are thrilled to have them back as part of the Muskegon Lumberjacks family." Added President of the Lumberjacks,
Steve Lowe.
The other side of the trade includes a pair of affiliate defensemen. Landon Sampair will soon start the Minnesota high school hockey season with Hill-Murray School, while Zach Shirkey plays in the NAHL for the Philadelphia Rebels. Tri-City also acquired 2027 Phase I 3

The Lumberjacks wish Landon and Zach the best of luck and are excited to welcome Josh and the Toll family back to Muskegon!
