MUSKEGON – Monday afternoon
Matvei Gridin a 2006 birth year forward from the Muskegon Lumberjacks announced his commitment to play NCAA Division I hockey in the BIG10 Conference at the University of Michigan.
Gridin, a native of Kurgan, Russia has been turning heads so far in the 2023-2024 USHL season. Through the first 14 games of the campaign, he has amassed 20 points on 11 goals and 9 assists. Gridin is in 2
nd place of the USHL in both individual goals and points.
As a 2006 birth year Gridin is entering his first year of draft eligibility in the NHL. In the NHL Central Scouting Preliminary Rankings Gridin was given a "B" grade. Only two other players in the USHL outside of the NTDP was given a "B" grade or higher.
The two-year Lumberjack has 54 career USHL games played. All with the Jacks dating back to last season where he skated in 40 regular season matchups.
